For those who don't celebrate it but are in Malaysia, have a great break! And yes, savour the clean, empty roads - for once, the streets are washed clean of jams.
Speaking of Chinese New Year and celebrations, it is so much more than just fireworks and holidays. I love that we still maintain a tradition, superstitions, and all those funny little quirky things that make up our DNA.
Behold, the omnipresent Yee Sang!
First, lay out the vegetables - yes, it is something like a salad, but with crunchy bits and plum sauce and oil.
The whole point of Yee Sang is to toss it all up together, as adages of good luck and prosperity roll off our tongues. The higher we toss, the better! So it always most certainly become a bit of a havoc when we start. No one ever sits out on this, because not only is it sheer fun, but it's all about bringing luck to the whole year ahead!
The above said havoc. :D
